A domain name consists of two parts. Your company or desired name and the country of origin.

eg. acame.com.au
Acame is the company name. The com.au indicates it would be an Australian Business.

All the various domain name ending are designed to reflect the type of organisation you would like to represent, apart from the way they look, they work exactly the same.

com	International commercial domain	typically represents a company seeking a global identity
com.au	Australian commercial domain	typically represents a company seeking to serve an Australian Market*
au.com	A new Australian commercial domain	typically represents a company seeking an international identity, but also serving a local market
net.au	Australian network domain	typically represents an IT or Internet company serving an Australian market*
net	International Network Domain	typically represents an IT or Internet company seeking a global identity
org	International not for profit domain	typically represents an International charitable organisation
org.au	Australian not for profit domain	typically represents an Australian charitable organisation*
* Can only register com.au, net.au and org.au domain names that bear an immediate relevance to a registered ACN, BRN or Charity name. Generic names, categories from the Yellow Pages and place names are not allowed. All other domain name endings are registered on a first com, first served basis. If the name is available, you can have it!
